The Jamaican boxing legend Mike McCallum has unfortunately died at the age of 68.
The renowned boxer, who claimed world championships across three distinct weight divisions, passed away unexpectedly. Las Vegas on Saturday.
Reports suggest McCallum was headed to the gym when he fell sick and pulled over with his vehicle.
According to the Jamaica Observer , he was subsequently discovered to be non-responsive and was later declared deceased.
McCallum earned the nickname 'The Bodysnatcher' because of his aggressive and powerful fighting style. He became the first boxer from Jamaica to win a world championship.
He did so in 1984 when he beat Ireland's Sean Mannion at Madison Square Garden in New York, claiming the WBA Junior Middleweight crown.


McCallum also claimed the WBA Middleweight and the WBC Light heavyweight titles during his career and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003.
