KILKENNY and Galway face off against each other for the Bob O'Keeffe Cup and the Leinster senior hurling championship title this weekend. Croke Park.
Derek Lyng’s Cats have held sway over the eastern provincial championship for five years now and will be determined not to relinquish their hold when facing Galway, a team they’ve defeated in three out of the past four finals.
Micheál Donoghue and his side will be hoping to cause an upset and take the Leinster title back to Connacht for the first time in seven years, when they beat Wexford in the final.

These two teams have had a significant rivalry. Championship so far, winning ass but one of their games each, with Kilkenny suffering a shock defeat t Wexford although it was after the Cats had already secured their place in the final.
The members of the Galway Tribes also fell short in one match, which they lost to the team wearing black and amber jerseys right at the start of the competition, thanks to an impressive performance from Eoin Cody on their side.
The previous encounter between these teams in a final took place in 2023, during Derek Lyng’s inaugural season leading the hurling powerhouse. It was Cillian Buckley’s crucial late goal that secured victory for the Cats.
